Summary/Abstract: Carols are anonymous creations of our people, inspired by the Sacred Scripture, Holy Tradition and Church services, generally having between 20 and 60 verses and expressing the meaning of all the Church’s teachings about the birth of Jesus Christ, certain events in the life of the Savior, as well as other important moments in the history of salvation. As an integral part of our religious folklore, carols are priceless because of their content, origin and especially because of their age. They represent our ancestral song and one of the oldest forms of manifestation of Romanian religious folklore.
