Summary/Abstract: The discussion about the translation by Pasternak began soon after it was published in 1940. Some reviewers approved the translator’s approach to Hamlet, other critics rejected it, some occupied their position in between. The ’’second act” of the discussion took place in the midst of 1960s; it underlined the vitality of Pasternak’s Hamlet as well as the necessity of further analysis of it.
