Summary/Abstract: This paper provides a Labor Market Policies (LMP) national approach in the current economic crisis, trying to reveal positive and negative effects of measures taken in this direction by the authorities. LMP involve: services connected with institutional activities and active and passive measures. If we take into account the authorities project to streamline public sector employment we estimates that the unemployment will increase at more than 1 million persons. In correlation with this perspective the employment will follow a much smoother increasing trend during 2011-2014. The prescriptive consequences for LMP in the crisis and post-crisis Romania’s economy should be realistic. This brings us to the controversial EU agenda of ‘flexicurity’, which has to be situated amongst other labour market policy and labor market reform agendas. The formal explication of security (access to advice and guidance in finding a new job, unemployment benefits and training opportunities) would be to expand coverage, including counseling, training and protection, for those who already have a job, for keeping it. The LMP should find the way to give real alternative opportunities for the unemployed and to transform the losses of skills and capacities, production wastage, too, during the unemployment in human capital investment.
