Summary/Abstract: In 1908, in the same year when the Museum of Natural History was inaugurated on May 24th in the new build ing on Kiseleff boulevard, Grigore Antipa participated to the 4th International Fishery Congress, held at Washington, September 22 to 26. On this occasion, the Romanian scientist visits not only fisheries but also museums and other prestigious institutions in Washington DC, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Fall River, Rhode Island, New Port and Woods Hole in Massachusetts. He comes in contact with several personalities and does not miss the meeting with the great mineralogist and gemologist George Frederick Kunz (1856–1932), with whom he will remain in touch after returning to the country. The author presents data on the personality of G. Fr. Kunz, as well as the list of works he sent to Grigore Antipa with dedication.
