Summary/Abstract: For his outstanding merits on April 11, 1905, Arnold Lucien Montandon (1852–1922) became a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, the Scientific Section. He was elected with 22 votes „yes” and 3 „no”, out of a total of 25. Dr. Constantin Istrati is one that reads „exposure on the writings and scientific work of Mr. A. L. Montandon, proposed by the Scientific Section to be especially foreign correspondent.” Already recognized at the time as one of the best entomologist hemipterologist in the world, a great autodidact,he was born in France and established in Romania in 1873. Here he sought permanent fauna and flora of his adoptive fatherland. His works related to Moldova, Muntenia and Dobrogea were among the first in this domain. Published in prestigious periodicals of the world, in a world language, he undoubtedly contributed to the knowledge of Romania abroad.
