Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with Fadil Kurtagić’s prose and dramatic opus. Since this writer's opus has insufficiently researched, this paper is one of the modest contributions to the literary-critical and literary-historical systematization and valorisation of Kurtagić's opus. He published prose and dramatic texts most frequently in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian periodicals during the Austro-Hungarian period, in the following journals: Behar, Gajret, Muslimanska sloga and Hrvatski dnevnik. When we talk about prose, his contribution to affirming the form of a short story was significant, while for the drama he tried to write humorous plays for public theatres. It is particularly important to emphasize his commitment to unionization of workers between the Two Wars, which eventually resulted in the narrative collection of Mali ljudi iz velikih škola (Small people from big schools). In it, Kurtagić criticized the bureaucratic system. The court in Zagreb forbade its distribution because, as stated, the ideas in the book were threats for the state order.
