Summary/Abstract: La Fontaine, the wellknown French writer of the 17th century, published his first fables book in 1668 in which “La Cigale et la Fourmi” became famous. After more than two centuries, the great French entomolo gist J. H. Fabre in his wonderful masterpiece Souvenirs Entomologiques, published in ten volumes, dedicated one of the works to the famous fable of La Fontaine, bringing to light the scientific truth about the life and behaviours of the two insects. Thus reveals the huge error that made La Fontaine in his fable, a fable that perpetuate and will perpetuate, deeply rooted in the minds of many generations.
