Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyse and evaluate the historical development of the military and technical heritage object – tank’s monument in Kaunas in 1963–1993. The present research has used variuos source and literature about tank’s appearance in town, its displacement and removal to Russia. Chapter 1 describes about the creation, tactical-technical data and exploitation pespectives of tank IS-2; Chapter 2 analyses the presentaton of tank’s monument in Kaunas, destroying the myth of tank “liberator”, its displacement and removal abroad peripeteia; Chapter 3 is dedicated to tank’s destination in Russia. The research has demonstrated that the places of tanks’ presentation had more than memorial destination and its historical narration revealed lie of tank “liberator” and myth of the Soviet era.
