Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with cultural changes that are occurring in western civilisation and their consequences regarding a mature reception of the phe-nomenon of death from the perspective of the forbidden death conception developed by Philippe Ariès. It shows the results of research on religi-osity and meaning in life as subjective correlates of the degree to which the psychosocial aspects of the forbidden death model are present in the opinions of students of Warsaw universities. The interpretation of the data includes existential conceptions: psychological, anthropological as well as theological. The conclusions indicate the need for reflective design of ac-tions to compensate for cultural changes in the perception of death. In this regard, the analysis can be relevant to pastoral theory and practice related to the care of spirituals sphere and the support in the search for a positive meaning of life and death.
