Summary/Abstract: Several theoretical models have been developed to explain the cognitive operations governing orthographic production activity of children and adult subjects. In this article, we will focus on the most know: the step-by-step model proposed by Uta Frith (it is related to the development of children’s orthographic skills) and the two-way model proposed, among others, by David Roeltgen and Kenneth Heilman (it is about adults’ orthographic production).
