Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on enhancing our understanding of the nature of intercultural communication which constitutes a basis for intercultural competence. Identification and description of the elements of cultural patterns are beneficial for undergraduate and graduate students in the engineering field. The specific professional interaction contexts – education, technology and business – are considered, and applications of the repetitive, predictable, and routine behaviours that form the structure of one’s interactions in the professional context are presented.
