Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present a system of improving the quality of education in studies in the field of tourism and recreation (TiR) conducted at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU). Based on twenty years of experience in conducting general-academic studies in the field of TiR, a developed system for improving the quality of education was presented, taking into account e.g. conclusions resulting from monitoring the careers of graduates; analysis of changes taking place on the tourism market; consultation of study programs with many interested parties: students, representatives of enterprises, institutions and organizations related to the development of tourism, and the scientific community conducting research in the field of tourism. The current study program guarantees the choice of many different educational modules, including such as “tourist safety management in crisis situations”. The program of studies in the field of TiR at AMUwas highly rated by accreditation committees. Moreover, it was awarded many times in national rankings. The developed scheme of conduct, aimed at improving the quality of staff education for the tourist services sector, may have a significant application significance for other universities conducting studies in this area, and thus contribute to the efficient response in crisis situations in the tourism economy.
