Parishes in the deanery of Grodno in the second half of the 17th century

Summary/Abstract: Straipsnyje, remiantis Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės Vilniaus vyskupijos parapijų vizitacijų, inventorių ir kita archyvine medžiaga, analizuojama Vilniaus vyskupijos Gardino dekanato parapijų padėtis XVII a. antrojoje pusėje: apibūdinama bažnyčių išvaizda, altoriai, klebonai ir jų sielovados apimtys. Gardino dekanato gyventojai buvo nevienalyčiai konfesiniu požiūriu, greta gyveno katalikai, stačiatikiai, unitai, protestantai bei judėjai, todėl straipsnyje pateikiama jų sugyvenimo pavyzdžių. Taip pat straipsnyje atsispindi XVII a. vidurio Abiejų Tautų Respublikos– Rusijos karo ir Rusijos okupacijos padariniai dekanato bažnyčioms. Based on archive material of visitations, inventories of the parishes of Vilnius diocese of Lithuanian Grand Duchy the article analyses the situation of the parishes of Grodno deanery of Vilnius diocese at the second half of 17th century:exterior of churches, altars, priests and the scope of their pastoral care. The inhabitants of Grodno deanery were of different confessions: Catholics, Orthodox, Uniats, Protestants and Jews; therefore, the article presents examples of their coexistence. Also, the article discloses consequences of the war between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Russia in the middle of the 17th century and the Russian occupation for the churches of the deanery.
