Summary/Abstract: Indicator is a representative value of an observed case that quantifies the information summarizing different, discrete and periodic measurements of a representative numerical size. Indicators are an effective way to monitor changes in the achievement of the objectives of sectoral policies and strategies. They provide better understanding of complex environmental problems and provide quantitative information in an easy and clear way. In this paper, selected indicators of environmental quality in Serbia and their movement in recent years are represented. The following indicators were taken: air quality (sulfurdioxide emissions), soil quality (use change)and surface water quality (hazardous substances).
