Summary/Abstract: The hydraulic-driven peasant installations are part of the material and spiritual life of the Romanian people. The archival fonds own generous written and drawn material, relevant for deciphering many aspects of the traditional culture. As related to the ethnographic area of Câmpulung Moldovenesc, two of the fonds of Suceava County Service of the National Archives are of particular interest: “Prefecture of Câmpulung Moldovenesc County” and “Câmpulung Moldovenesc Water Service”. Economic activities such as grain grinding or the processing of wood, bark, iron or wool could not have been omitted from the taxation areas, irrespective of the historical period. Due to a dense network of waterways and a fairly constant rate of flow, which characterize mountain regions, the localities of Câmpulung Moldovenesc ethnographic area have several installations, commune in the area of Bukovina, such as the mill, the fulling mill, the carding machine or the saw with hydraulic wheel.
