Summary/Abstract: Teachers and pupils are the main actors of the educational process. The pupils are at the centre of educational process today, while teachers are those who give advice, support and directions, and who encourage and inspire. Their facilitation skills, knowledge and capacities depend on their qualification and professionalism that are acquired in the course of their undergraduate training, and the effectiveness of their work depends on the quality of the particular educational activity. In order to carry out professional pedagogical activities, the teacher should possess a complex of biogenic, psychogenic and sociogenic characteristics. In this study, the author deals with the acquisition and development of skills and competences that are inherently linked to the system of lifelong learning, to the implementation of activities and to the efficient organization of self-education and self-development in educational practice.
