Libraries without obstacles. Is that enough? The issue of providing library services to people with disabilities. An analysis of university curricula and county libraries in Upper Silesia and the Dąbrowa Basin

Summary/Abstract: The elimination of architectural obstacles and adaptation of the interiors appear as insufficient measures for the people with disabilities in Poland. County libraries are equipped with computers and other materials meant to facilitate their contact with people with disabilities, but those aids are not always utilized to their full potential. The preliminary study looks at the county libraries in the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin in terms of their inclusivity with regard to people with disabilities. Moreover, the study analyzes Library Studies curricula across the universities in Poland, paying particular attention to the issues connected with serving people with disabilities.
