Summary/Abstract: The following article deals with the classroom learning of German as the third language (L3) after English as the second language (L2) on the example of Polish learners, who typically represent this order of acquisition. A central subject matter in this context is the acquisition of pronunciation. Pronunciation errors supposed to reflect an interference from English as L2 on German as L3 are exemplified on the basis of observations made during German lessons, and an auditive analysis of a data sample. At the same time, the study exposes a significant role of positive transfer in phonetic training.
