Summary/Abstract: The article presents the language means serving for the expression of values by means of word-play and creative modifications, which are often based on situation adaption or on a hint with a hidden meaning and are presented on the example of the linguistic image of Pope Benedict XVI outstanding from the German and Polish press. On the basis of the analysis of the chosen articles, presented from the pragmalinguistics point of view, a general characteristics of the possible expression of value by means of word-play and modifications on the lexical, morphological as well as syntactic and stylistic plans has been carried out.
