Summary/Abstract: The natural gas problem between Ukraine and Russia which broke out in December 2005 caused Turkey to worry, as well as causing the Europe to worry. The decrease in the volume of the natural gas coming from Iran and the inability to deliver sufficient natural gas to the important industrial centers even for just a few days has renewed the subject of establishing nuclear energy plants in Turkey, given the fact of our dependence on the natural gas for generating electricity. In this study, we have, on the one hand, put forth whether Turkey needs nuclear energy or not, and we have, on the other hand, tried to consider the accuracy of the ideas and their justifications at length.
