‘Declare’ and Telling the Truth

Summary/Abstract: In the article the research of semantic-syntactic properties of the verb {to declare} is presented. I investigated selected lexical definitions of this verb, its description in linguistics literature and the contexts in which it appears in the natural language. I also consider whether the inflection forms could draw a distinction between meanings of the verb. The purpose of my work was to find the answer to the question whether the verb {to declare} means the same as to tell the truth, thus being the indicator of the knowledge verified by the speaker.
