Summary/Abstract: The content of today’s article is a general characteristics of the relations which joined the state with the churches and religious associations (taking into particular consideration Lubuski region) in the 70s of the 20th century. The author pays attention that their shape was the consequence of changes in domestic policy after Edward Gierek’s crew came to power. The necessity to placate the social mood and an attempt to stabilise the situation in the country forced the ruling crew to take some steps to normalize the relations with the predominant Catholic church. The effect of which was marginalisation of religious minorities excluded from the national imagery. The growing feeling of discrimination in the environments of recognized religious communities led to inactivity towards the system as well as building a compromised attitude (especially among the church elites) oriented to maintain the existing status of possessions.
