Summary/Abstract: The fragment from the memoirs in the manuscript written by the Bukovinian Dimitrie Gălătescu reproduces the events in which the author was involved in the ‘30s and ‘40s of the 20th century. The author presents events, characters and places related to his studies at the , “Aron Pumnul” High School in Chernivtsi and the ,“Carol I” National College in Craiova. Dimitrie Gălătescu describes how he perceived and was affected by the USSR occupation of Chernivtsi, the illegal crossing of the new Soviet-Romanian border and the enrollment at the Faculty of Law at the University of Bucharest. Full of drama are the pages where young Dimitrie recounts his brief encounter with his parents and his status as ,“deserter”. Many details are given about the training period at the School of Infantry for Reserve Officers in Ploiesti.
