Summary/Abstract: The study analyzes literary worlds created by Karl-Markus Gauß and Martin Pollack. With the help of a comparative analysis common features and differences of their conceptualization of Europe are researched. The symbiosis of “literature and knowledge”, which constitutes a genre substance of the authors’ works, serves as a methodological basis. Attention is also paid to literary rendering of space by Pollack and Gauß, including so called “cartographic poetics”. The core of the study is a spacial-semantic analysis of Gottschee (Kočevje) region in today’s Slovenia, which plays an important role in the literary output of both the authors.
