Summary/Abstract: The novel document that I will present - from the archive of Proffessor Ion Solcanu, PhD - is a fragment of the life of General Dimitrie D. Chirescu, a descendant of the Chirescu "dynasty", a combatant in the First World War, Nicolae Iorga’s son-in-law.I stopped at his childhood and adolescence, as he reminded them at the age of 80 years. Beyond the life of the Chirescu family, the author introduces us to the life of the Cernavodă city: children's games, school, relationships between the inhabitants of the city of Cernavodă, experiences and questions of the child at the inauguration of the Cernavodă bridge, his brother's, Ioan D. Chirescu, beginning of his career as conductor, choir, meetings with Romanian personalities...Also, the document presents the life of the child who left his provincial town and attended the the „Sf. Sava” Secondary School in Bucharest, and then the Central Seminar in Bucharest, with both excitement and dissatisfaction. A fragment of life... in another time...
