Summary/Abstract: Background: The main reason for the creation and development of complications of diabetes is unsatisfactory long-term metabolic control of diabetes. The aim of this paper is to point out the most common risk lifestyles among seniors with diabetes and the role of nurses in resolving them. File: The survey sample consisted of 75 respondents. of the 57.3% of the respondents were women and 42.7% men. in terms of age largest group consisted of respondents aged 61-70 years 41 (54.7%), respondents. Methods: To obtain the data, we used the questionnaire method. The questionnaire contained 20 items, based on the information we have found the most common complications of diabetes mellitus in the elderly. Questions concerned awareness of potential complications, lifestyle and interest in education. Results: The most frequent complication that occurs in the respondents is 45.3% of hyperglycaemia, hypoglycaemia 24%, 10.7% diabetic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy 10.7%, chest pain 5.3% and 4.0% of diabetic foot . With respect diabetic diet, the problem is 33.3% of respondents do with obesity in 24% of respondents. Hyperglycemia resolves 22.7% of respondents, 4% selfmonotoring not coping. Self-monitoring of blood glucose levels stabilized at 40% of the respondents, 21.3% did not assess the effectiveness of self-monitoring. it is very important to have dM control maintains 69.3%, and more important for 26.7% of respondents. Source of information on respondents is mainly 64% physician diabetologist, 16% of nurses in the diabetes clinic. Conclusion: The results of our survey show that respondents have difficulty in complying with the treatment regimen and lifestyle that is a risk for the emergence of complications of diabetes mellitus.
