Summary/Abstract: Gustavo Ott is an award-winning contemporary representative of the new generation Venezuelan playwrights. Since the 1980s Ott has written over 40 plays, all of which have been staged in various countries of the world. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the dramatic structure of his plays focuses on the notion of time. This engagement is observed on many levels, such as philosophical and scientific speculations, as well as dramaturgical devices and resources. This article examines manipulations of such elements as continuance in time, chronology, alternative and oneiric time (dreams and hallucinations). These phenomena are presented from the perspective of diegetic and stage time relationship.
