Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to one of the most significant issues both for the economic theory and practice – the human capital. The essence and some of the most characteristic features of human capital are presented. In this regard, comparison with other types of capital is made. The main place is given to the investments in human capital and their sources. The main benefits of human capital and of the investments therein, that are specific to the individual, the company and the state, are examined.
