Summary/Abstract: This research was conducted to examine the opinions of art teachers on their needs and interest in professional development, for the purpose of improving the teaching profession and the quality of art education. Twenty-two primary and secondary school visual arts teachers from Sarajevo Canton participated in the research. The results indicate that teachers perceive the issue of professional development as an opportunity to improve the teaching profession and engage in collaborative learning and teamwork with other teachers from the same and/or other teaching areas, as well as to cooperate with university professors. The results are important for future innovation and design of lifelong professional teacher training programs and professional development programs for teachers, with the intention of increasing the quality of teaching process in art education.
