Summary/Abstract: Privacy is about the individual's state of being private for other individuals and in terms of community. Although it changes according to society and time, the individual's body, home, some personal information, memories, emotions, thoughts and beliefs gain meaning as the most common/basic private subjects. The advances in science and technology in today's world have significantly affected and changed the perception of privacy. Mass media is the main factor of change. Especially television and the internet are very privileged in terms of changing effects. While “confidentiality” required by privacy on social media channels rapidly disappears, “to be seen by everyone” is becoming a general trend. This study is about the meaning of privacy and the process of change. Depending on internet technology, it has been investigated what kind of changes social media channels cause in privacy and practices.
