Summary/Abstract: Man as an active subject, as a creator of his own life and choices. Man, therefore, as a structure capable of managing itself, generating changes in the environment thanks to internal motivation. This view of the nature of subjectivity is presented by many educators, psychologists, sociologists and philosophers. Paying attention to the issue of agency in adult life is even more justified from the point of view of contemporary social changes. More and more advanced technological progress, changes in the area of the life model, transforming economies from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources pose a number of challenges and the need to forecast the future. A future that, as we can see, is hard to predict anyway. Even recent pandemic experiences have shown us how much can depend on man. This enormous impact of our activity is analyzed in the article from the point of view of selected theories functioning both in psychology and in pedagogy.
