FIGURING RETICENCE IN WORKPLACE DISCOURSE

Summary/Abstract: The article presents a few aspects related to reticence in different spoken professional interactions in English. It is known that implying something, or leaving something unsaid rather than saying it, can be regarded as polite or as an expression of agreement or hesitation. A suitable method in conversation analysis will be applied to relevant examples in order to identify the major significations of reticence in workplace discourse.
