Summary/Abstract: The article presents the initial results from the author’s research on documents from the Strandzha region available in the Archives of the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Тhe focus of attention is on some notated songs from the town of Malko Tаrnovo, collected by Vasil Stoin in 1926. A close look on them discloses new data about the compilation and edition of a corpus, entitled “Bulgarian Folk Songs form Eastern and Southern Thrace” and reveals unknown aspects of a scholarly partnership. Copies of nonpublished archival documents, as well as summarized data about the materials from the Strandzha region have been attached in the article’s appendices.
