Summary/Abstract: The biological sex of individuals in the society changes with the social life. These changes limit the individual's roles and perspectives in society. Mass media is one of the areas that have a limiting effect on human roles and serve. Cinema, one of today's mass media tools, has an important place in terms of reflecting the cultural codes and genetic memory of the social sphere. In this context, animated films are among the important examples of cinema. Animation films strengthen ideological ideas in society and serve social norms with the sexist roles they contain. One of the most typical examples of this is seen in the movie “Bad Cat Şerafettin”, which was released in 2016. In the film, many gender-related factors stand out in the life struggle of Şerafettin and his close friends. In the patriarchal Turkish society, the roles and functions of men and women in society are given through Şerafettin and his friends. In the study, primarily the concepts of gender and gender were included and the relationship of gender with animated films was explained. Then, the behaviors of the male and female characters in the movie Bad Cat Şerafettin were examined with a critical perspective. In this film, which was analyzed within the framework of gender, it was concluded that men and women form different sexist roles, male domination is at the forefront depending on the roles, they represent the concepts of power, superiority and leader, whereas women are thrown into the background and represent a passive structure in behavior.
