Summary/Abstract: In 2020, in Munteni, Galați county, at a location known as “Ferma Prisaca”, a burial tomb was unearthed. The tomb is located on the3 edge of a hill, a place from where clay is frequently taken, both for domestic needs and for construction. The bones were piled around the skull and were covered with yellow earth. A small, fragmentary ceramic vessel was discovered in the close vicinity of the bones. From the information received from the person who made the discovery, it was established that the skeleton was lying on its back, with its hands outstretched next to its body. The skeleton appeared at - 1.10 m and was oriented NNW-SSE. The inventory of the tomb consisted of a small ceramic vessel, positioned near the head, and an iron dagger, positioned near the right tibia (continuation of the right hand). The vessel discovered at Munteni represents a rare form, developed from the shape of jar vessels (Sarmatic type) to the shape of a local mug, without a handle. The dagger has a ring-handle and a blade with parallel edges, which narrows towards the top. With regards to the Munteni burial tomb, the anthropological analysis confirmed the initial theory based on the components of the funerary inventory - namely, that the skeleton belongs to a man. Although it is possible that there were other objects part of the inventory of this tomb that were potentially lost during the excavation of the clay, the evidence gathered from the bitruncated vessel and the dagger sheds light on the issue of dating this tomb, which is assigned to the 1st-2nd centuries AD.
