Summary/Abstract: The paper aims at presenting a reality regarding the situation of Romanian women on the labour market and in education at the beginning of the third millennium. Our intention is to offer the readers an interdisciplinary – social and economic perspective, knowing that the major studies on women were done by sociologists, historians, anthropologists having fewer connections with the economic approach from the gender dimension perspective. The paper is placed in the cognitive area, less militant, but it tends to sensitize the public opinion for such a subject, in order to change the interest on women, overcoming the traditional schemes of thinking.
