The Long History of the Italian Presence in Besançon and Its Influence on the City

Summary/Abstract: This article aims at studying, through the history of Italians in Besançon (France), how cultural interferences and contrasts between the two groups have influenced the city. Since the Roman conquest and up to today, immigrants coming from the Peninsula have been the main vectors of these exchanges by forging links between the two sides of the Alps.
