Summary/Abstract: The work of Gheorghi Arnaoudov Interpretationes II “Stella splendens in monte” (Miraculum super Llibre Vermell de Montserrat) for Clarinet and Violoncello is a cycle of two pieces for clarinet and violoncello, inspired by a medieval historical record (collection) from XIV century. As the composer extracts from the document the melodical prototype of the music themes so he looks for the dialog with the contemporary music world. The composer concept sets very specific and complex ensemble and interpretive tasks for the performers. A precise balance between the contemporary music feeling of the two instruments, different in sound extraction and timbre characteristics, and the necessary sound incarnation of the spirit and atmosphere of the period of the manuscript is imperative for the correct realization. The challenge for the performers stays in the long sounding tones, on which the music themes in the first part, and the different polyphonic techniques in291the second part are held. This requires a proper sound control, correct tempo and precise rhythm.
