Summary/Abstract: August Strindberg considers the arts complementary to science and religion. During his lifetime he runs along the paths which separate atheistic naturalism from mystical expressionism. Paradoxes which raised his own temperament led him to see art as a bridge between science and consciousness. The principle of analogy he uses as the key to the world allows him to conceive chance as a necessary condition for an artistic work that goes straight into the depths of reality, into the heart of the matter, where energy shapes the essence of the spirituality.
