Summary/Abstract: A hotel facility classification system makes it possible to standardise the quality of hotel services, and should guarantee hotel compliance with predefined requirements and criteria. In order to determine the impact of a hotel’s rating in Poland on the quality of services it offers, the authors conducted a survey which covered a sample of 226 respondents. Based on the study, it was established that the classification system affects the quality of services provided by the classified properties, and that consumers of hotel services are aware of the standards and amenities which the hotels they choose should offer. However, it is important to indicate that nearly half of the respondents noted that a hotel’s category does not always guarantee that the appropriate standard required by law is being maintained.
