Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with new media in the chronological order of their introduction to society, from penny press, film, radio, television, satellite, the Internet, social networks to the Semantic Web. Each of these media technologies has been the dominant tool for people to get to know the world for a particular period of history, and each has made different demands on the cognitive habits and skills of the media consumer. The study aims to clarify the nature and manifestation of these changes.
