Summary/Abstract: Currently binding Polish regulations of contracting out of banking activities to an external provider (outsourcing) include vital limitations, aimed at providing the stability of banking sector as well as at protection of banks’ customers interests, with special regard to bank secrecy. Changes in this area proposed by the government lead to the important extension of acceptable scope of outsourcing and to simplification related procedures, especially by mitigation of authorities of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. The arguments presented in the government’s bill in favour of liberalization of outsourcing regulations and also governmental evaluation of expected effects of proposed changes take no account of potential growth in the probability of bank secrecy violations accompanying the intensification of outsourcing practices in banking.
