Summary/Abstract: The study presents results of analyses concerning determinants of shares in regional employment of two groups of services: traditional and modern ones. Factors characterizing specificity of service activities and their role in the economies of voivodeships were taken into account. Results of the analyses allow to conclude that employment in modern services is more directly determined by demand, while in the traditional services – by the way of organizing activity. Both groups are essentially influenced by labour costs. Simultaneously, bigger interregional differences are `observed concerning a share of employment in traditional services. Modern services, including public sphere, are more equally distributed.
