Summary/Abstract: The article presents aspects of the life and work of Eugen Pavel Barbul, the first Romanian director of the Central University Library of Cluj, between 1920-1935. The personality of the bibliologist Eugen Pavel Barbul, originally from the place of Lipău, Satu Mare, is shaped by his activity at the head of the Library in Cluj, the volumes he signed over time and his publicistic contributions to the journals whose editor he was. There are also presented some glimpses of the political activity of Eugen Pavel Barbul as well as instants of his family and friends, Octavian Goga for instance.
