Summary/Abstract: The variety of spas has several ways to organize the specific functions of these settlements. Among their functions, the Casino, introduced in the 19th century, contributed largely to the urban development and to define their architectural features. The Casino of Băile Herculane means a point of reference for the urban composition of a part of the historical area of the city, developed in the second half of the 19th century. The building represents one of the oldest examples of this architecture program and can be regarded as a model in the typological evolution of casinos. The analysis of this building highlights its architectural qualities, its importance to the urban structure and its significance in the evolution of this city.
