Summary/Abstract: The dynamics of social relations and jurisprudential needs have imposed the principle of the best interests of the child, which presupposes that the protection of minors is a top priority of any society. It is no longer enough just to recognize and understand society's duties towards children, but it is necessary for it to act to put these beliefs into action. The European Union and Romania have modernized and strengthened their legislation on the protection of vulnerable consumers, including children. This article aims to establish why children are classified as vulnerable consumers and to show that they are targeted by unfair commercial practices. Unfair commercial practices are misleading actions aimed at significantly distorting the economic behaviour of a clearly identifiable group of consumers, since they, due to their age, are particularly vulnerable to the practice used or the related product, a situation which the trader may easily anticipate.
