Summary/Abstract: The article describes the concept of ecological safety from the perspective of obligations imposed on public authorities who are responsible for ensuring ecological safety. The transport sector has a negative influence on the environment in many respects. The analysis concerns the actions taken by local authorities to minimize ecological threats from transportation. The article draws attention to the content of strategic documents, with particular emphasis on the prioritisation of public transport. The strategic documents adopted by the Wrocław authorities give priority to public transport, pedestrians and cyclists. According to the policy of local authorities, public transport should be low-emission, efficient, safe and reliable. The article attempts to outline possible scenarios for shaping the pro-ecological policy of the city of Wrocław, taking into account the urbanisation of suburban areas and solving the problems of access to urban transport.
