Summary/Abstract: The book is a continuation of the author's previous research on Spanish football in historico-cultural and political-media contexts. Unlike the previous two parts, which dealt with men's football, this one is entirely devoted to women's football, more specifically to the history of its break with the patriarchal paradigm strongly embedded in Spanish society. Analysing women's football in terms of Spain's historical development and the changes in the understanding of gender within the discourse of power, the author shows the difficult path that female footballers, referees, coaches and journalists have followed from the private (domestic) sphere, in which they were confined by the male discourse of power in the twentieth century, to the public sphere, in which, in the twenty-first century, they have gained such a position that they have become capable of producing a counter-narrative to this discourse.
