Summary/Abstract: The aim of the book is a scientific analysis of the social world of contemporary Polish dramatic theater as a space of action and discourse. The author is primarily interested in the arena of public theater, that is, the place of dispute, discussion, polemics between the participants of this universe. As Prof. Przemysław Kisiel writes, "the value of the reviewed monograph results first of all from a skilful delineation of the theoretical framework of the analysis and from the high substantive competences of the author, allowing for a thorough sociological analysis of the theater community in Poland. The value of the monograph is also demonstrated by a skilful linkage of empirical material gathered by the author as a result of her own field research with materials from other sources. "
