Summary/Abstract: An analysis of the evolution of the ideological attitude of the Communist Party of China (CPC) towards the history of pre-revolutionary China and the Chinese civilizational heritage, as well as traditional Chinese culture in the period from the foundation of the party until the present day. The book emphasizes the influence of the changes of the political situation in China and the situation within the ranks of the CPC on the assessment of China’s history and Chinese cultural heritage. It portrays attempts by leaders of the CPC at combining some concepts derived from traditional Chinese philosophy with the ideology of “Chinese Marxism” professed by the party.
